git-rev-list.txt: prune options in synopsis The synopsis section in git-rev-list.txt has grown to be a huge list that probably needs its own synopsis. Since the list is huge, users may be given the false impression that the list is complete, however it is not. It is missing many of the available options. Since the list of options in the synopsis is not only annoying but actively harmful, replace it with `[<options>]` so users know to explicitly look through the documentation for further information. git-log.txt: include rev-list-description.txt The `git log` synopsis mentions `<revision range>`, and the description of this option links to gitrevisions(7), but a nice explanation of how a revision range can be constructed from individual commits, optionnally prefixed with `^`, also exists in `rev-list-description.txt`. Include this description in the man page for `git log`. Add Asciidoc 'ifdef's to `rev-list-description.txt` so that either `git rev-list` or `git log` appears in the respective man pages. The current trend goes towards dashless forms, and there is precedent in 647ac70 (git-svn.txt: stop using dash-form of commands., 2009-07-07) to actively eliminate the dashed variants. Replace 'git-cmd' with 'git cmd' throughout, except where git-shell, git-cvsserver, git-upload-pack, git-receive-pack, and git-upload-archive are concerned, because those really live in the $PATH.

[PATCH] Random documentation fixes The fixes focuses on improving the HTML output. Most noteworthy: - Fix the Makefile to also make various *.html files depend on included files. - Consistently use 'NOTE: ...' instead of '[ ... ]' for additional info. - Fix ending '::' for description lists in OPTION section etc. - Fix paragraphs in description lists ending up as preformated text. - Always use listingblocks (preformatted text wrapped in lines with -----) for examples that span empty lines, so they are put in only one HTML block. - Use '1.' instead of '(1)' for numbered lists. - Fix linking to other GIT docs. - git-rev-list.txt: put option descriptions in an OPTION section. Include rev-list options in git-log manpage. Replace the "This manual page describes only the most frequently used options." text with the list of rev-list options in git-log manpage. (The git-diff-tree options are already included.) Move these options to a separate file and include it from both git-rev-list.txt and git-log.txt.
