In b6a8d09f6d (gc docs: include the "gc.*" section from "config" in
"gc", 2019-04-07) the "git gc" documentation was made to include the
config/gc.txt in its "CONFIGURATION" section. We do that in several
other places, but "git gc" was the only one with a blurb above the
include to orient the reader.
We don't want readers to carefully scrutinize "git-config(1)" and
"git-gc(1)" looking for discrepancies, instead we should tell them
that the latter includes a part of the former.
This change formalizes that wording in two new templates to be
included, one for the "git gc" case where the entire section is
included from "git-config(1)", and another for when the inclusion of
"git-config(1)" follows discussion unique to that documentation. In
order to use that re-arrange the order of those being discussed in the
"git-merge(1)" documentation.

As a public service, it is unlikely that the Gmail server is configured
to throw a certificate that does not verify at the user.
Remove the `sslVerify=false` config from the Gmail example.
Also, comment it in the `example.com` example, and add a note to the
user explaining that they might want to uncomment it if they are having
trouble connecting. While at it, use an Asciidoc 'Note' section in the

When formatted as a man page, 1st section header is always in upper
case even if we write it otherwise. Make all 1st section headers
uppercase to keep it close to the final output.
This does affect html since case is kept there, but I still think it's
a good idea to maintain a consistent style for 1st section headers.
Some sections perhaps should become second sections instead, where
case is kept, and for better organization. I will update if anyone has
suggestions about this.
While at there I also make some header more consistent (e.g. examples
vs example) and fix a couple minor things here and there.

Use libcurl's high-level API functions to implement git-imap-send
instead of the previous low-level OpenSSL-based functions.
Since version 7.30.0, libcurl's API has been able to communicate with
IMAP servers. Using those high-level functions instead of the current
ones would reduce imap-send.c by some 1200 lines of code. For now,
the old ones are wrapped in #ifdefs, and the new functions are enabled
by make if curl's version is >= 7.34.0, from which version on curl's
CURLOPT_LOGIN_OPTIONS (enabling IMAP authentication) parameter has been
available. The low-level functions will still be used for tunneling
into the server for now.
As I don't have access to that many IMAP servers, I haven't been able to
test the new code with a wide variety of parameter combinations. I did
test both secure and insecure (imaps:// and imap://) connections and
values of "PLAIN" and "LOGIN" for the authMethod.
In order to suppress a sparse warning about "using sizeof on a
function", we use the same solution used in commit 9371322a6
("sparse: suppress some "using sizeof on a function" warnings",
06-10-2013) which solved exactly this problem for the other commands
using libcurl.

The SYNOPSIS sections of most commands that span several lines already
use [verse] to retain line breaks. Most commands that don't span
several lines seem not to use [verse]. In the HTML output, [verse]
does not only preserve line breaks, but also makes the section
indented, which causes a slight inconsistency between commands that
use [verse] and those that don't. Use [verse] in all SYNOPSIS sections
for consistency.
Also remove the blank lines from git-fetch.txt and git-rebase.txt to
align with the other man pages. In the case of git-rebase.txt, which
already uses [verse], the blank line makes the [verse] not apply to
the last line, so removing the blank line also makes the formatting
within the document more consistent.
While at it, add single quotes to 'git cvsimport' for consistency with
other commands.

The point of these sections is generally to:
1. Give credit where it is due.
2. Give the reader an idea of where to ask questions or
file bug reports.
But they don't do a good job of either case. For (1), they
are out of date and incomplete. A much more accurate answer
can be gotten through shortlog or blame. For (2), the
correct contact point is generally git@vger, and even if you
wanted to cc the contact point, the out-of-date and
incomplete fields mean you're likely sending to somebody
useless.
So let's drop the fields entirely from all manpages except
git(1) itself. We already point people to the mailing list
for bug reports there, and we can update the Authors section
to give credit to the major contributors and point to
shortlog and blame for more information.
Each page has a "This is part of git" footer, so people can
follow that to the main git manpage.
There is a documented limitation on the body of any email not being
able to contain lines starting with "From ". This patch removes that
limitation by improving the parser to search for "From", "Date", and
"Subject" fields in the email before considering it to be an email.

The documentation was quite inconsistent when spelling 'git cmd' if it
only refers to the program, not to some specific invocation syntax:
both 'git-cmd' and 'git cmd' spellings exist.
The current trend goes towards dashless forms, and there is precedent
in 647ac70 (git-svn.txt: stop using dash-form of commands.,
2009-07-07) to actively eliminate the dashed variants.
Replace 'git-cmd' with 'git cmd' throughout, except where git-shell,
git-cvsserver, git-upload-pack, git-receive-pack, and
git-upload-archive are concerned, because those really live in the
$PATH.

Many e-mail based development communities require non-flowed text to carry
patches to prevent whitespaces from getting mangled, but there is no easy
way to tell Thunderbird MUA not to use format=flowed, unless you configure
it to do so unconditionally for all outgoing mails.
A workaround for users who use git-imap-send is to wrap the patch in "pre"
element in the draft folder as an HTML message, and tell Thunderbird to
send "text only". Thunderbird turns such a message into a non-flowed
plain text when sending it out, which is what we want for patch e-mails.

Since the git-* commands are not installed in $(bindir), using
"git-command <parameters>" in examples in the documentation is
not a good idea. On the other hand, it is nice to be able to
refer to each command using one hyphenated word. (There is no
escaping it, anyway: man page names cannot have spaces in them.)
This patch retains the dash in naming an operation, command,
program, process, or action. Complete command lines that can
be entered at a shell (i.e., without options omitted) are
made to use the dashless form.
The changes consist only of replacing some spaces with hyphens
and vice versa. After a "s/ /-/g", the unpatched and patched
versions are identical.
