4fc8fb48e9 compat/fnmatch/fnmatch.c: Fix a sparse error
Sparse issues the following error and warnings:

    SP compat/fnmatch/fnmatch.c
.../fnmatch.c:144:17: warning: Using plain integer as NULL pointer
.../fnmatch.c:238:67: warning: Using plain integer as NULL pointer
.../fnmatch.c:303:40: error: too many arguments for function getenv

The error is caused by the extern declaration for the getenv function
not including the function prototype. Without the prototype, sparse
effectively sees the declaration as 'char *getenv(void)'. In order to
suppress the error, we simply include the function prototype.

In order to suppress the warnings, we include the <stddef.h> header
which provides an appropriate definition of the NULL macro, rather
than using the (inappropriate) default definition at fnmatch.c:132.

Support "**" wildcard in .gitignore and .gitattributes
wildmatch: make /**/ match zero or more directories
  wildmatch: adjust "**" behavior
  wildmatch: fix case-insensitive matching
  wildmatch: remove static variable force_lower_case
wildmatch: make wildmatch's return value compatible with fnmatch

38104ca6b9 compat/fnmatch: update old-style definition to ANSI
We try to avoid touching borrowed code, but we encourage people to
write without old-style definition and compile with -Werror these
days, and on platforms that need to use NO_FNMATCH, these three
functions make the compilation fail.

f10e3864dc compat/fnmatch: fix off-by-one character class's length check
Character class "xdigit" is the only one that hits 6 character limit
defined by CHAR_CLASS_MAX_LENGTH. All other character classes are 5
character long and therefore never caught by this.

This should make xdigit tests in t3070 pass on Windows.

a02cf90144 compat/fnmatch/fnmatch.c: give a fall-back definition for NULL
Somebody tried to compile fnmatch.c compatibility file on Interix and got
an error because no header included in the file on that platform defined
NULL. It usually comes from stddef.h and indirectly from other headers
like string.h, unistd.h, stdio.h, stdlib.h, etc., but with the way we
compile this file from our Makefile, inclusion of the header files that
are expected to define NULL in fnmatch.c do not happen because they are
protected with "#ifdef STDC_HEADERS", etc. which we do not pass.

As the least-impact workaround, give a fall-back definition when none of
the headers define NULL.

3632cfc248 Use compatibility regex library for OSX/Darwin
The standard libc regex library on OSX does not support alternation
in POSIX Basic Regular Expression mode. This breaks the diff.funcname
functionality on OSX.

To fix this, we use the GNU regex library which is already present in
the compat/ diretory for the MinGW port. However, simply adding compat/
to the COMPAT_CFLAGS variable causes a conflict between the system
fnmatch.h and the one present in compat/. To remedy this, move the
regex and fnmatch functionality to their own subdirectories in compat/
so they can be included seperately.
