As in 7ff24785cb (leak tests: mark some misc tests as passing with
SANITIZE=leak, 2021-10-12) continue marking various miscellaneous
tests as passing when git is compiled with SANITIZE=leak. They'll now
be listed as running under the "GIT_TEST_PASSING_SANITIZE_LEAK=true"
test mode (the "linux-leaks" CI target).

Follow-up the change in 459b8d22e5 (tests: do not borrow from COPYING
and README from the real source, 2015-02-15) by not shipping a full
copy of older versions of the top-level "COPYING" and "README" files.
The tests that use them just need the small blurb at the top of
"COPYING" as test data, or mock data that's dissimilar. Let's provide
that with a "COPYING_test_data" function instead.
We're not replacing this with some other generic test
data (e.g. "lorum ipsum") because these tests require test file header
to be the old "COPYING" file. See e.g. "t4003-diff-rename-1.sh" which
changes the file, and then does full "test_cmp" comparisons on the
resulting "git diff" output.
This change only changes tests that used the "lib-diff.sh" library,
but splits up what they need into a new "lib-diff-data.sh". A
subsequent commit will change related tests that were missed in
459b8d22e5.
For the test in "t4008-diff-break-rewrite.sh" the "README" file can go
away in favor of echoing the line "some dissimilar content" to a file
in the one test that needed it.
The point of that test is to start with files "A" and "B", and then
have A be more similar to the state of "B" than to its old version (by
copying over the content from the "COPYING" file). Just comparing the
pre-image of "some dissimilar content" and later a munged version of
the "COPYING" output serves that purpose.
While we're at it get rid of a stray "echo $tree" debugging line added
in 15d061b435 ([PATCH] Fix the way diffcore-rename records unremoved
source., 2005-05-27), and stop calling "hash-object" to get the hash
of an object we've just added to the index. We can instead extract
that information from the index itself with "rev-parse".

Rename the "diff-lib" to "lib-diff". With this rename and preceding
commits there is no remaining t/*lib* which doesn't follow the
convention of being called t/lib-*.

These two files have been modified since the tests started using
as test input, making the exact object names they expect to be
different from what actually happens in the trash repository they
use to run tests.
Instead, take a snapshot of these two files and keep them in
t/diff-lib/ so that we can update the real ones without having to
worry about breaking tests.

When find-copies-harder is in effect, the diff frontends are expected to
feed all paths, not just changed paths, to the diffcore, so that copy
sources can be picked up. In such a case, not descending into subtrees
using the cache-tree information is simply wrong.

This is one of the oldest scripts; update it to match more modern style.
Notably, we should:
- Put the test title on the same line as the "test_expect_success", and
end the line with a single-quote to begin the body of the test which is
one multi-line string; and
- Run as many commands inside test_expect_success, not outside, to catch
unexpected breakages.

Many test scripts assumed that they will start in a 'trash' subdirectory
that is a single level down from the t/ directory, and referred to their
test vector files by asking for files like "../t9999/expect". This will
break if we move the 'trash' subdirectory elsewhere.
To solve this, we earlier introduced "$TEST_DIRECTORY" so that they can
refer to t/ directory reliably. This finally makes all the tests use
it to refer to the outside environment.
With this patch, and a one-liner not included here (because it would
contradict with what Dscho really wants to do):

As promised, this is the "big tool rename" patch. The primary differences
since 0.99.6 are:
(1) git-*-script are no more. The commands installed do not
have any such suffix so users do not have to remember if
something is implemented as a shell script or not.
(2) Many command names with 'cache' in them are renamed with
'index' if that is what they mean.
There are backward compatibility symblic links so that you and
Porcelains can keep using the old names, but the backward
compatibility support is expected to be removed in the near
future.

We use 'A' for added files instead of 'N' to make the it
visually easier to distinguish from 'M' now.
While we are at it, make the test scripts executable. Yes, I
know it does not matter because t/Makefile runs them explicitly
with "sh tXXXX-blah.sh", but being consistent is always better.

Like diff-tree, this patch makes -C option for diff-* brothers
to use only pre-image of modified files as rename/copy detection
by default. Give --find-copies-harder to use unmodified files
to find copies from as well.
This also fixes "diff-files -C" problem earlier noticed by
Linus. It was feeding the null sha1 even when the file in the
work tree was known to match what is in the index file. This
resulted in diff-files showing everything in the project.

The score number that follow R/C status were parsed but the
parse pointer was not updated, causing the entire line to become
unrecognized. This patch fixes this problem.
There was a test missing to catch this breakage, which this
commit adds as t4009-diff-rename-4.sh. The diff-raw tests used
in related t4005-diff-rename-2.sh (the same test without -z) and
t4007-rename-3.sh were stricter than necessarily, despite that
the comment for the tests said otherwise. This patch also
corrects them.
The documentation is updated to say that the status can
optionally be followed by a number called "score"; it does not
have to stay similarity index forever and there is no reason to
limit it only to C and R.

This changes the way how pathspec is used in the three diff-*
brothers. Earlier, they tried to grab as much information from
the original input and used pathspec to limit the output. This
version uses pathspec upfront to narrow the world diffcore
operates in, so "git-diff-* <arguments> some-directory" does not
look at things outside the specified subtree when finding
rename/copy or running pickaxe.
Since diff-tree already takes this view and does not feed
anything outside the specified directotires to begin with, this
patch does not have to touch that command.

Earier version of diffcore-rename used to keep unmodified
filepair in its output so that the last stage of the processing
that tells renames from copies can make all of rename/copy to
copies. However this had a bad interaction with other diffcore
filters that wanted to run after diffcore-rename, in that such
unmodified filepair must be retained for proper distinction
between renames and copies to happen.
This patch fixes the problem by changing the way diffcore-rename
records the information needed to distinguish "all are copies"
case and "the last one is a rename" case.
