The OPTIONS section of a documentation file contains a list of the options a git command accepts. Currently there are several variants to describe the case that different options (almost) do the same in the OPTIONS section. Some are: -f, --foo:: -f|--foo:: -f | --foo:: But AsciiDoc has the special form: -f:: --foo:: This patch applies this form to the documentation of the whole git suite, and removes useless em-dash prevention, so \--foo becomes --foo. NOTE: In most cases, users should run linkgit:git-gc[1], which calls

git-prune. See the section "NOTES", below.

This runs `git-fsck --unreachable` using all the refs
|
|
available in `$GIT_DIR/refs`, optionally with additional set of
|
|
objects specified on the command line, and prunes all unpacked
|
|
objects unreachable from any of these head objects from the object database.
|
|
In addition, it
|
|
prunes the unpacked objects that are also found in packs by
|
|
running `git prune-packed`.
|
|
|
|
Note that unreachable, packed objects will remain. If this is
|
|
not desired, see linkgit:git-repack[1].
|

Do not remove anything; just report what it would

In most cases, users will not need to call git-prune directly, but
|
|
should instead call linkgit:git-gc[1], which handles pruning along with
|
|
many other housekeeping tasks.
